What is a custom domain?

A custom domain is a unique branded name that identifies a website. Custom domains, also known as vanity URLs, appear in the address bar at the top of every browser. A custom domain can be purchased from a service provider and usually looks like yourname.com

Purchasing a custom domain

Anyone can purchase a custom domain. You can purchase a domain from our recommended domain name registrar, such as Whogohost (Nigeria & Africa) or Name (USA). When you visit our recommended or your preferred domain name registrar, you simply search for an available domain associated with your idea, product or services and pay the fees. You can't purchase just any domain, you can only purchase available domains not already owned by another person or brand and that bears a valid domain suffix. We encourage you to register a domain name that is catchy and short so that it's memorable.

In some cases you may already have an existing registered domain. Either case, read on to learn how to setup and authenticate a sub domain which will serve as a custom domain for your Linkpane profile.

Setting up a custom domain

If you want to change the web address that's displayed to your audience while they browse your Linkpane profile, then you need to add a custom domain, such as start.yourname.com. The supported custom domain must be a subdomain which is a subset of your root domain, such as start, getstarted, links, quicklinks.

For example, in the URL start.yourname.com, yourname.com is the root domain and start is the subdomain.

You can add a domain in the following way:
